Explorers and Builders

After sailing the oceans for some time, we found land. A skinny island with rivers on both sides and a rocky southern tip. Next to the island, there are two other pieces of land - one that is very grassy and one that is a mixture of rock, grass, hills and swamp. The bad news is that our ship is broken, so we can't leave. The good news is that we were able to use the materials from the ship to build homes. We had wood planks and sheets (the sails). We also had branches that we found and clay (soil). Plus someone had stashed a lot of masking tape on board, so that was helpful. Stay tuned for more of our adventures in this new land!

Subway Art

On Tuesday, we went to a subway station near Prospect Park to look at and hear about the mosaic tile art there. Susan Tunick, the artist, talked about her work and showed us how she made it. We drew and wrote about the artwork and the leaves above ground that inspired it.
